Davis Cup Tie to be held in Valencia Bullring
Valencia has been chosen to host Spain’s 2018 quarter final Davis Cup tie against Germany in the Plaza de Toros on the 6-8 April 2018, after Palma de Mallorca pulled out of the running.
Built in the 1850’s, the bullring will host its first ever Davis Cup tie and Valencia’s first since 2003. The 10,600 capacity bullring will be converted into an outdoor clay tennis surface.
The last time the two teams met was in Germany in 2014, which Germany won, so Spain will be keen to exact revenge and pass to the semi-finals for the first time since 2012. With Spain having already knocked out Great Britain, the majority of British expats will be supporting Spain.
The city is expected to receive hundreds of travelling German supporters and will extend a warm, Valencian welcome to all visitors. With Easter coming early this year, the weather is expected to be perfect for the tie and for all outdoor activities. As well as enjoying the tennis, visitors will be able to visit the city’s many attractions. The city is flat and full of bike lanes which makes sightseeing by bycicle a good option.
Tickets to the Davis cup tie will be available on the Davis Cup website. Whoever wins, we hope it’s a great event and an excellent tennis tie. Bikes can be rented for as little as 2 euros and you reserve yours on www.bikealao.com.
